Teacher Fiona is the visionary Founder and Artistic Director of the Big Dance Company. She has etched an indelible mark on the global dance community. As a Full Teaching Associate of the United Kingdom Alliance and a qualified Acrobatics Arts Instructor, her credentials are both diverse and distinguished. Her membership in esteemed organizations such as the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dance (CSTD), the Guild of Professional Teachers of Dance, CID and UNESCO, the Association of Disco Freestyle Professionals, and the United Dance Organization, further underscores her profound commitment and contribution to the art of dance.
Her exceptional talent and dedication have garnered her numerous accolades. She was a semi-finalist for the West Country Women Of The Year and led her dance school to victory as the Dance School of the Year in both 2020 and 2021. Her achievements have also been recognized with the prestigious Honorary Philip Lawrence Award and the title of Cornishman Teacher Of The Year. Her inspiring influence extends beyond dance; she was celebrated as a Pride Of Penwith Cornishman and a Role Model by Beauty Unseen in Bristol Fashion Week. Her excellence in dance was internationally acknowledged with the Global Arts Award for Dance Excellence in Los Angeles from 2016 to 2019. Additionally, she was honored as one of the Top 50 Most Inspirational Persons and one of the Top 50 Women from Cornwall by the Cornishman.
Her expertise and passion for dance have taken her across the globe, where she has held masterclasses in a multitude of cities including London, Birmingham, the Philippines, China, Malaysia, South Africa, Taiwan, Los Angeles, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Each masterclass reflects her unwavering dedication to sharing her knowledge and inspiring dancers of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition to her dance accolades, Teacher Fiona is deeply committed to societal betterment through her extensive community work. She designed and delivered mental Health Awareness Workshops across the UK with Lukas McFarlane. She also created Anti-bullying and Anti-social Behavior Diversion Dance Workshops, working in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police in London for three years. These workshops reached over 500 schools and universities in Sussex, Devon, and Cornwall, earning her an honorary award presented by Sir Ed Balls, the former Secretary of State.
Her dedication to social causes extends to her B Inspired Dance Workshops for HM Prisons and Young Offender Units, and Domestic Violence Awareness Workshops for Cornwall and Devon Police. Her efforts in these areas have provided invaluable support and education to countless individuals, highlighting her profound impact on the community.
